The most expected third page rank update of 2012 has been rolled out yesterday Aug 2nd. Google, the search engine giant has updated their toolbar ranking for websites. The first page rank update of this year happened in February and the second one in May.
Page Rank – The Reality
Page rank is just a numerical value from 1 to 10 and the blog with highest page rank is considered to be the highest authority by majority of webmasters worldwide, however Google gives least importance to Page rank.
Google’s Susan Moskwa explained then
We’ve been telling people for a long time that they shouldn’t focus on Page Rank so much; many site owners seem to think it’s the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true. We removed it because we felt it was silly to tell people not to think about it, but then to show them the data, implying that they should look at it.
I consider Toolbar Page Rank has not much to do with SEO. It is just a grade given by Google, the changes neither affects ranking nor performance.
Then, why Curious about this PR update?
August 2nd Page Rank update had lot of expectations because major algorithm updates like Penguin and Panda versions were rolled in these 3 months. The sites hit by Penguin and Panda have experienced major PR drop in this update.
When is the next PR Update?
Next Page Rank update is expected to be in November 2012 before this year end. If your site has not experienced a Page Rank change, don’t come to a conclusion. Updates happen for hours and days and it may change anytime.
